Postponement of polls better than inconclusive exercise – Gov. Lalong backs INEC

Sequel to the recent postponement of the presidential and National Assembly polls last Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has said that the postponement may have been the only option to save Nigeria from an inconclusive exercise.

Lalong who was reacting to the postponement added that, while the postponement is very unfortunate, every disappointment is a blessing.

The Governor urged the electoral umpire to put its house in order so as to conduct free, fair and credible polls that would be acceptable to all.

Lalong said he was disappointed over the “last minute” postponement of the general elections, but added that it might have been the only option to save Nigeria from an inconclusive exercise.

“Like every other Nigerian, I am disappointed by the last minute postponement of the presidential and National Assembly elections by INEC, but I also believe that whatever is worth doing is worth doing well”, he stressed.
