Pope Francis says killing in God’s name is ‘satanic’

Pope Francis, on Wednesday, described the act of killing in God’s name as “satanic.”

He said this during a mass at St Martha’s chapel in honour of a French Priest identified as, Jacques Hamel, whose throat was slit by jihadists in July this year.

Recall that Hamel had on July 26 2016, while presiding over an early morning mass in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray was attacked with his throat slit by jihadists.

Speaking during the mass at St Martha’s Chapel, which had in attendance about 80 pilgrims from the Northern French dioceses of Rouen, where the attack took place, the Pope said, “Killing in God’s name is satanic.”

He described the deceased priest as a “good, gentle man and a martyr,” who was killed “like a criminal.”

Pope added, “Today the Church has more Christian martyrs than in the first centuries.

“How good it would be if all religious confessions declared that killing in the name of God was satanic.

“This cruelty which demands apostasy is, let us say it, satanic.”
