Politics causing division among Yoruba leaders, Audu Ogbe shouldn’t be in government – Y

The National leader of the Yoruba Youths Congress (YYC), Mr. Wale Alake ,has identified politics as a major cause of divisions among Yoruba elders .

He described the ugly trend as the bane for development in the Southwest despite being the baseline of the country’s economy.

Alake said the spate at which the Yoruba nation would have progressed is being debarred by the political rivalry among top notch leaders in the region.

The Patron of the YYC said there is an urgent need for Yoruba elders to unite and work together for the Unity and progress of the Yoruba region.

Alake spoke at a Programm tagged, “Yoruba and the spate of development “held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

He said the youths have a duty to begin to fashion out ways of effecting development in the region.

He said, ” We urge all Yoruba leaders and Elders to unite irrespective of their political and religious background

“It is very important that elders and leaders of the southwest extraction come together in unity in developing the region. We must understand that southwest is the economic base of the country

“Southwest is the economic base of Nigeria, Lagos is remitting more than 65% of the Vat in Nigeria yet it only has 20 local government duly recognised by the federal government

He commended the efforts of leaders in the region, including, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other notable leaders on their efforts in making sure the southwest is duly recognised in the scheme of things in the country.

Alake said, “Much is still expected. We call on our elders to always involve the youths in whatever plans they have as regards the development of the region through Youth mentorship that guarantees viable leadership succession”.

He noted particularly that the nation is not being fair to the minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe if he’s still saddled with so much responsibility while he should be resting at his age.

Mr wale Alake urged the elders to commend the effort of the National president of the Yoruba Youths Congress, Prince Dapo Adepoju on the role he played in mediating and being part of the eminent Youth stakeholders that brokered peace between the Arewa youths and the IPOB.
