OkowaA grassroots politician, Mr. Chuks Okpunor has appealed to Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to consider members of the opposition in appointments into his cabinet.
Okpunor, a former chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) in Aniocha South local government area, told DAILY POST on Monday in Asaba that every politician in the state irrespective of party affiliation, remains a stakeholder in the Delta project.
He said for Governor Okowa to realize his vision for a prosperous and united Delta state, it requires the input of every stakeholder in the politics of the state irrespective of political party affiliation.
“I want to appealed to Governor Okowa to remember the opposition family especially now that he is putting up a team of credible Deltans to work his cabinet in bringing prosperity to the people of the state.
“Let his appointments be spread to inculcate members of other sister party as it is done in other states. It is my belief that we can achieve results when diverse ideologies are harnessed for a common goal.”
Okpunor, who contested last April’s State Assembly elections for Aniocha South Constituency under the platform of APGA, argued that the opposition in Delta has some political technocrats whose ideas can be beneficial to the state.
He lauded Okowa, who he described as a visionary grassroots political leader whose victory at the governorship polls, underscored his wide acceptability by all Deltans.
According to him, the challenges of building a united and prosperous state demands corroborative efforts and contributions of all well-meaning politicians and individuals alike to realize the objective of governance.
Okpunor also appealed to all political parties in the state to rally support for the Okowa-led administration, urging them to be prepared to give their best when and where their contribution is needed.
