Policeman caught on camera extorting money from motorcyclist [VIDEO]

A policeman attached to the Oyo State Police Command has been caught in a video collecting a bribe of N50 from a commercial motorcyclist in Ibadan.

The incident, according to the 29 seconds video sent to DAILY POST Wednesday morning by one of the residents of the area occurred at about 12.05 pm on Monday at Wajawaja junction, along Awotan-Araromi-Akufo road in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo state.

The policeman whose number read, 437559, in the video was seen along with his colleagues numbering about 5, extorting money from commercial motorcyclists, commercial bus drivers, drivers of heavy duty vehicles such as tipper.

Two of his colleagues were seen stopping other motorists.

One of them was seen stopping a tipper coming from Akufo while the mother one was seen stopping motorists coming from Wajawaja-Olomo Road.

The policemen who stationed their hilux van with inscription, “Swift Response Squad” “Oyo State Police Command” parked beside the road and were seen stopping motorists from the end of the Wajawaja-Olomo Road and Awotan-Araromi-Akufo Road in the video.

In the video, a comic argument ensued between the bribe taker policeman and the motorcyclist.

Policeman: Ok, come down.

Motorcyclist: I will fight you while standing. I will tear your face. It is like…I will tear your face.

Policeman: You are a boxer, you are well trained. You just want to fall on my hand.

After the comic conversion, the motorcyclist brought out N50 note believed to be the usual bribe and rode off the scene. The policeman was seen putting the money in his pocket.

The source lamented that the extortion of motorcyclists and other motorists had made transport fare within the area to increase.

He called on the state police command to investigate the matter in order to stop the extortion of commercial motorcyclists and other motorists by the police in the area.

However, all efforts by DAILY POST to get reactions of the state police command spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu to react to the video proved abortive as at the time of filling this report as calls put through to his line did not go through.
