Police warn unregistered tricycle operators in Yobe

The Yobe State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has expressed dismay over the growing number of unregistered tricycles in the state.

The Command threatened to commence a clampdown of erring operators, according to laws.

A statement released Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdulmaliki Abdulhafeez, read, “Yobe State Command has observed with dismay, most of the Tricycle (Keke Napep) Operators were not registered.”

The PPRO, therefore, warned all tricycle operators in the state to ensure that they fully register with the Board of Internal Revenue.

“The Operators are also advised to clearly use bold registration number on their tricycles for easier identification,” Abdulhafeez advised.

Meanwhile, the Yobe State Chairman of Tricycle Riders Association, Umaru Barau said that the Association has over 5,000 registered members and they are working hard to enlighten members on the need to obtain licensed plates.

“The Association made it compulsory for all members to obtain and appropriately placed number plates on their tricycles for easy identification when the need arises,” Barau added.
