Police warn criminals as Operation PUFF ADDER is launched in Yobe

The Yobe State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, on Friday, launched Operation PUFF ADDER to get rid of criminals activities in the state.

Operation PUFF ADDER is expected to checkmate incidents of insurgency, armed robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling across the state.

The launching of the initiative was in compliance with the directive of the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu that all Commissioners of Police should replicate and domesticate the operation in their respective commands.

During the launch, the State Commissioner of Police, Sunmonu Adeyemi Abdulmaliki, said, “the aim of the operation is to tackle crimes affecting the state such as: insurgency, banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping, armed robbery among other crimes.

“And also to prevent influx of criminal elements to the state considering ongoing security operations in neighbouring states as Yobe has border with four states Gombe, Borno, Bauchi and Jigawa states”.

According to him, police effort is yielding positive results as a lot of criminal activities in the state have been nipped in the bud, while a total number of 39 suspects were arrested in connection with different crimes.

“In compliance with IGP directive, Yobe state police command inaugurated a special squad codenamed ‘Operation Kukan Maciji’ under the direct supervision of the commissioner of police, comprising of Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU), Conventional Police, Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS), State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and State Criminal Investigation Department (CID)”, he said.

CP Abdulmaliki appealed for the support, cooperation and understanding of members of the public for the success of the operation as it was designed to collaborate with security agencies, critical stakeholders and members of the public to ensure that the state is safe and secured.

He equally called on members of the general public to volunteer useful information to the police about criminals and their hideouts.

DAILY POST reports that highlight of the operation’s launch was a show of force conducted round the metropolis by officers and men of the command.
