The Plateau State Police Command has vowed to prosecute suspected killers of Mr. Tokunbo Adeleke, who was until his death GOTV Sales Manager in Jos.
The Command also assured the family of the deceased and members of the public that it will not grant administrative bail to the suspects.
This was disclosed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mathias Terna Tyopev, in Jos, the state capital.
Tyopev said, “If this is what people are saying, they are not being fair to us; it was through investigation that we arrested those suspects and we have filed charges against them at the State High Court since on the first of March, 2019.
“So how would the police turnaround to consider granting them administrative bail; it doesn’t add up, not in anyway, when charges are filed already.
“No matter how small the court is, on the case of alleged murder, you cannot consider an administrative bail, the court must take cognisance of such cases.
“I don’t know why people have started bringing such things to bear on our own investigation.
“I just want to inform members of the public that we are not contemplating granting them administrative bail, the suspects would be taken to court as soon as the charges we filed are been assign to a judge,” he maintained.
It would be recalled that late Tokunbo Adeleke was attacked and killed on 10th December, 2018 at about 9:15pm in his residence, at Rayfield opposite New Government House, Da Chuwang Road, Behind Mustard Seeds Academy, Jos South LGA.
DAILYPOST gathered that the deceased Sales Manager of GOTV, a subsidiary of MultiChoice, was returning from work on the fateful day.
The police trailed and arrested some suspects namely: Mamuda Umar and Ismail Abdullahi in Bisichi, Barkin Ladi LGA on 14th January, 2019, while Suhailu Musa (aka) Manga was arrested on 18th February, 2019, also in Barkin Ladi LGA.
However, after the arrests, family sources started raising alarm that the police want to grant bail to the suspects, which could lead to their escape.
According to a source, “We have information that the police want to grant the suspects administrative bail without charging them to court, which will be unfair to the family”.
But the police has come out to clear the air on the matter and allay fears of family members of the deceased.
