The police anti-Robbery team attached to the Delta State Police Command Asaba, in the early hours of Friday uncovered a warehouse for charms in Otulu community, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state, and arrested four suspects with charms and ammunition.
Mustafa Muhammad, the Police Commissioner in the state who confirmed the arrest to Journalists in Asaba at a media briefing, disclosed that the police anti-robbery team uncovered the warehouse for charms inside the bush of the community.
Giving the names of the suspects as Sunday kahi, Chukwudi Adibe, Emeka Dennis and Felix Obiroha, the police boss further disclosed that upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, adding that,”they took the police who were acting on intelligence gathering to the warehouse where they claimed they often coverged and worship before setting out for operations.”
CP Mustafa Muhammad said that the police also recovered guns and ammunition from the suspects who admitted they have been operationg across the state over six years ago, adding that they will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
According to him,” On a routine patrol, our men of the police force have arrested several robbery suspects on Asaba Benin expressway. We have also arraigned many of them. The police set ablaze the warehouse for charms, and the suspects are helping the police at the headquarters for further investigation. We are appealing to members of the public to always update the police with useful information that will always lead to arrest of criminals in their hideouts,”
Meanwhile, the police said they have arrested a notorious kidnapper identified as Joe Ihiaza in Ughelli community last Thursday.
Mustafa Muhammad, the police commissioner in the state who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to journalists in Asaba on Friday said the suspct had before his arrest, heading a deadly kidnap gang, adding that he was arrested on a tip off by the police in the area.
He said, “The suspct is 31-years-old who had been heading deadly kidnap gang. He was picked up on Agbahro /Ughelli road on a tip off by the police in the area. He will be charged to court on completion of investigation. The police recovered AK-47 with ammunition from him.”
