The Nigeria Police has drafted officers and men from neighbouring states and Abuja for the inauguration of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as the Ondo State governor on Friday.
Ondo state Police spokesman, Femi Joseph said the command was expecting officers from Osun and Oyo states.
Joseph said no commercial activity would be allowed around the Akure Township Stadium till the event ends.
He said: “The Commissioner of Police has established an operation office which specifies the activities of every policeman that will participate in this serious event.
“Besides the 5000 of us in the state, we are still expecting manpower from sister commands and the Commissioner of Police has sent a letter to AIG Zone 11, as well as the Inspector General of Police and they have all promised to send more men.
“We are expecting officers from Oyo, Osun and Abuja for the inauguration. Some of them have been arriving the state and I can only give you the number of officers to be deployed when they all arrive.
“The major venue, which is the stadium, will be well secured. Both within and around the stadium, we will also deploy our anti-bomb experts.
“Major towns – Akure, Owo, Ondo, Ikare and Okitipupa and others – we will have our men there to ensure that peace reigns throughout the event.
“We want to appeal to our people to cooperate with us. We are prepared and hopeful for a successful event.”
