The premises of the Edo State House of Assembly was on Monday taken over by the Police to avert possible breakdown of law and order.
It was reported that more than 10 Hilux patrol vans and an Armoured Personnel Carrier were positioned strategically within and around the state assembly complex.
Access into the Assembly complex was also be restricted by regular and mobile police officers who were positioned at the three entrances.
Already, workers of the house of assembly have been prevented by the police from getting to their offices.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, PPRO, Abiodun Osifo disclosed that the move was made to, “avoid repetition of what happened last Wednesday at the complex”.
It would be recalled that crisis started on Wednesday after the House Speaker, Victor Edoro was removed by 16 members of the Assembly who replaced him with Elizabeth Ativie.
Suspected thugs, who are loyalists of both parties, had after the speaker’s removal, took over the Assembly complex and engaged in indiscriminate shooting.
