Police speaks tough against cultism in Cross River despite threat of attack on its officers

The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, CP Mohammed Inuwa Hafiz, has vowed to deal with suspected cultists in the State.

Reacting on the threat by suspected cult groups who threatened to attack security chiefs in the State, the Commissioner told DAILY POST on Wednesday on phone, “Let me tell you our war against cults and criminals in Cross River State is going to continue unabated.”

He said, “As far as we are concerned, whatever is criminality remain criminality and we are not going to partner with any criminal.

“We are ready to deal with any miscreants; nothing can deter the Police in particular from going ahead to deal with any criminal and group of criminal, so nobody, no man born of woman can threaten Nigeria Police.

CP Hafiz explained that even in the face of threats, the law of this country is very clear, “We are not living in animal farms, we are living in a civilized country, a country that has law and order, a country that believes in the rule of laws, so anybody who is ready to comply with the rules and regulations governing this country is welcome,” he stated.

He said that anybody who is willing to transgress against the law of this country will definitely be dealt with, “We will go after him or the group of such lawless people. Nigeria is not a lawless country; Nigeria is a civilized country governed by rules and regulation.

“The law of this country is not a respecter of any person or any group, so for that, we are determined more than ever, to continue with what will bring peace and security to this country and Cross River State in particular.

”I have heard about the threat, but it is not something that will make me lose sleep for once or think twice about it. Nobody can challenge government.

“The arrested suspected cultists are already in court, in fact, as I speak with you, they have been remanded in prison and it is left for the Judiciary to do their own.

On the current trend in the arrest of cultists, the Commissioner said, “If I tell you that we have not arrested any suspected cultists, I am telling you a lie, there is no day that we don’t arrest suspected cultists, ours is to arrest and investigate and charge to courts,” he stated.
