The Nigeria Police has reacted to the clash between members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) better known as Shiites and security operatives on Monday at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja
DAILY POST had reported that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) shed/outpost was set ablaze by Shi’ite members in Abuja.
This is following the clash between members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) better known as Shiites and security operatives on Monday at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.
Speaking on the incident, the force in a statement signed by DCP Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer warned Nigerians in Abuja to avoid Central Business District and the Three Arms Zone areas in Abuja.
Mba assured that the situation was under control as adequate measures were being put in place.
The statement read: “PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT There is a violent protest currently ongoing by members of the El-Zakzakky Group in some parts of the FCT – particularly the Central Business District and the Three Arms Zone.
“The Police are taking adequate measures to bring the situation under control.
“Citizens are advised to remain calm and avoid the affected areas in the interim. The Police will keep the public abreast with further development.”
