Police says kidnapped girl rescued in a church in Ogun


The Ogun State Police Command in its reaction to the abduction of a three-year-old, Olauwabunmi Ajelero on Sunday from a Baptist church in Surulere area of Lagos State said the victim was rescued from the premises of another church in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.

It would be recalled that thee three-year-old was abducted on Sunday from the premises of Baptist Church while service was ongoing.

DAILY POST reports that the baby was rescued on Tuesday by the police.

According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson on Tuesday disclosed that the toddler who was abandoned in a church at Oke Sokori in the State capital on Sunday evening drew the attention of those around when she started crying.

His words, “The men of the Adigbe division rescued the girl and handed her over to the Juvenile and Women Centre of the police for proper care.”

Adejobi noted that from the Command’s investigation, it was discovered that the abductors demanded N300,000 ransom from the victim’s parents.

“The girl was seen with a note on which the Lagos pastor’s telephone number was written, possibly to make easy to locate her parents after the criminals’ transaction with her family.

“The rescue of the girl truncated the operation of the criminals and no ransom was paid before the girl was found by the police in Ogun State,” Adejobi affirmed.
