Police roll out tanks as anti-Buhari protests begin in Lagos, Ibadan

Scores of armed policemen have taken strategic positions at the National Stadium, Surulere and environs, following insistence by some activists to continue with today’s protest despite call off by Tuface Idibia.

The men are visible under the bridge opposite the stadium, the link road inward Surulere, Ojuelegba bus stop as well as strategic positions on Ikorodu road.

Armoured tanks have also been rolled out to stop the protest against policies of President Muhammadu Buhari government.

Those leading the protest were said to have approached the police officers to find out why the venue was blocked.

The police officers in response requested for the permit the protesters obtained to embark on their demonstration.

In Ibadan, Oyo state, eyewitness told DAILY POST that the protest has kicked off with protest carrying placards.

“I counted over 50 police vans, trucks and tanks. Some protesters were shouting ‘where is our president, where is our president’

“The ones I saw gathered in places like Ojoo, in front of University of Ibadan gate, Beere, Iyanganku, Molete, Bodija”.

Despite call by popular Nigerian musician, Innocent Idibia, also known as Tuface and 2Baba, to pull out, activists vowed to go ahead nationwide.
