Police reveal plans to conduct house-to-house search for criminals in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command, yesterday, said it would conduct house-to-house survey to track criminals terrorising communities in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Austin Iwar, said this during community policing engagement with stakeholders in Rigas, Hayin Malam Bello and Hayin Dan-Mani in Igabi Local Government area.

Iwar said one of the problems raised by stakeholders was the identification of tenants who move in and out of the communities with very little knowledge about them.

“House agents are just giving houses to people who are criminals, so we have a house survey technique, a process of moving from house-to-house and carrying out survey on the kind of people that live in the compounds.

“The survey is targeted at looking out for those people that have background we don’t understand, fish them out to face the law.”

He, however, said the effort would require massive support of communities, neighbours and well meaning individuals and groups desiring to ascertain that people they live together with are genuine.

Iwar pledged to create five additional police stations in the three communities.

“I think your request is genuine, so today we will send additional 20 policemen to the division and they will be on constant patrol.

“We will work with local neighbourhood watch associations to address some of the security challenges.”

Alhaji Tanimu Aliyu, the Secretary to Rigasa District Head, commended the police commissioner for engaging communities in policing activities.

He pledged the cooperation of the communities to ensuring security in the district, but called for the deployment of more policemen there.
