Police rescue three kidnap victims, 115 rustled cows in Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command on Monday paraded five suspected kidnappers for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old boy and also a mother and daughter.

The Police said the three kidnapped persons have been rescued.

The Command equally said it has recovered 115 cows rustled by unknown persons who are still at large.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Austin Agbonlahor disclosed this while parading the suspects at the Command’s headquarters in Jos, the state capital.

He said, “On the 23 October, 2018, at about 23:30 hours a case of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping was received by the Command from Aminu Hamisu of Anguwan Rogo, Jos that on the same date at about 17:02 hours an anonymous caller called him that he kidnapped his son, Aliyu Hamisu aged 6 years old, and the kidnappers warned him not to inform the police else his son will be killed.

“The suspected kidnappers also demanded N12,000,000 to secure the victim’s release.”

According to the CP, on receipt of the report, the police swung into action and that led to the arrest of Abba Sa’eed, Kabiru Sabitu and Abdullahi Kabiru; whom the CP said have confessed to have committed the crime.

He also said two suspects: Mohammed Sanni Umar (20) and Ibrahim Alhaji Ardo Boderi (22) were arrested in connection with the kidnapping of 56-year-old Adama Umaru and her daughter, Rabiat Umaru, at Kampani Zurak village of Wase LGA of the State.

Agbonlahor said the incident was reported by one Umaru Ardo (husband and father of the victims) to the police on November 16, 2018, that some armed men numbering about four came to his house and abducted his wife and daughter.

He added that on receipt of the report, the police swung into action, mobilized to Komboloro bush, where the suspects were tracked to have taken the victims to and in the process, the two victims were rescued unhurt without payment of any ransom.

Agbonlahor said the first three suspects would soon be arraigned in court, while the last two would be arraigned as soon as investigation is concluded.

He also said the command got credible information received from one Mallam Abdullahi Yusuf of Jos South LGA, that 115 cows belonging to Ibrahim Suleiman of Sabon Gidan Karnar were rustled by five armed men.

According to Agbonlahor, the police patrol team swiftly mobilised and informed checkpoints within the axis to watch out for suspects in the crime.

He said the combined efforts led to the recovery of all the cows which have been handed over to the owner; but stated that efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The Command also paraded seven armed robbery suspects.
