The Abia State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed that Madam Ozuruonye Juliet Kalu, mother of Super Eagles and Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu, who was kidnapped last week, has been rescued.

DAILY POST recalls that Kalu had already appealed to the yet-to-be-identified gunmen, who abducted his mother, to free her so that the family can have peace again.

Confirming Madam Kalu’s release, the Abia State police spokesman, Godfrey Ogbona, said she was released close to midnight on Monday.

“She was released around midnight (2300 GMT) of Monday and she has been reunited with her people,” Ogbona was quoted by The Nation as saying.

“Circumstances surrounding her release have not been disclosed to me for now.

“But we are still investigating the incident in a bid towards ensuring that those who carried out the act are arrested and brought to book.”
