Police refute rumoured clash with IMN in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command, has refuted the rumour going round in the social media asking people to avoid Kaduna-Zaria express way, over alleged clash between members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, and the police.

The rumoured message read: “Please inform family and friends to avoid zaria-kaduna axis. There’s a heavy clash between Shites and the police right now.

“This is because of the incessant crisis bedeviling the whole southern Kaduna. Presently, all the above mentioned roads are blocked and innocent travellers are being killed. Pls disseminate this information in order to save lives. Forward as copied from a group chat.”

‎But the Police in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, ASP Aliyu Usman, said the rumours were baseless and malicious lies fabricated by mischief makers.

According to the statement, “The attention of the Nigeria Police Kaduna State Command has been drawn to a rumour being circulated online, that there’s tension or clashes going on at some locations in the state.

“The above rumours and all other related false alerts are baseless and malicious lies fabricated by mischief makers.

“Therefore, the Kaduna State Command wishes to notify the public that the command remains resolute in crime fighting and hereby issuing a stern warning against spreading of falsehood via any media as such actions are capable of breaching the peace and will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
