The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has warned officers nominated to handle the recruitment exercise into the force against any form of sharp practice.
Idris warned that senior officers nominated to handle the exercise must be thorough and must ensure that the screening exercise was smooth, hitch-free and devoid of any form of corrupt practice.
He said this in preparation to the commencement of the exercise nationwide on Monday.
The police boss issued the warning while addressing Commissioners of Police and other senior officers nominated to serve as Heads of Police Recruitment Screening Committee in the 37 commands of the federation and was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, on Saturday.
Represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Training and Development, DIG Emmanuel Inyang, Idris also warned the participating officers to be impartial and ensure transparency during the exercise.
The statement reads, “Successful candidates, after the physical screening, will undergo a written aptitude test to be conducted by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, explaining that the decision taken by the police authorities was to ensure transparency and get the best out of the candidates.”
It added that medical examination will be conducted for each candidate in visual assessment which covers far and near visual acuity, binocular vision, colour vision, visual field testing and pathology.
The statement added, others areas would be on “general medical test which covers blood pressure, sugar, body mass index, hepatitis b and c, HIV screening, guberculosis, antigen in serum and pregnancy test (for women only) and psychological evolution of the candidates which covers psychological interview, personality and integrity as well as drug screening.
“The Inspector General of Police also directed that the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Training and Development should embark on monitoring and assessment of the exercise throughout the 36 states and the FCT to ensure that the exercise is carried out in line with best practices.
