Police recover N7.5m ransom from kidnappers in Ogun

The Ogun state Police Command on Wednesday, said it recovered N7.5 million ransom from suspected kidnappers in the state.

The suspected kidnappers had collected N7.5 million as ransom from a 35-year-old on Ejinrin Road in Ijebu-Ode before luck ran out on them.

Abdulmajid Ali, the state Commissioner of Police, CP, made this disclosure at the headquarters of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Magbon, Abeokuta, the state capital.

Ali paraded 11 suspected criminals including those nabbed in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery and pipeline vandalism, among other crimes. They were picked up from Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode by operatives of the Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squad, FSARS, during separate operations.

The Commissioner told newsmen that two members of the kidnap gang, Gbenga Taiwo and Femi Nejo, were arrested while others fled.

According to him, Nejo had confessed to participating in a series of kidnapping, including one Ismaila, Baba Yellow and Dele Eleja.

The CP disclosed that four suspected vandals, including a guard with a private security outfit, were arrested on Sunday night at Igbepa in Sagamu Local Government Area, adding that fully loaded 50-litres jerrycans, numbering about 50, were recovered from the suspects.

The CP also disclosed that their operational vehicle marked Lagos KTU 64 XB was also impounded.
