The Police in Delta State have recovered the 7,365 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) that were carted away by gunmen when they invaded the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the State about a forth night ago.
At the time the INEC office was attacked, the criminals stole about 600,000 PVCs alongside some voter registers. Soon afterwards, detectives swooped into action, arresting the security guards attached to the office and interrogating them.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in Delta, Celestina Kalu, told Crime Watch Today that the stolen PVCs have been recovered and a total of 7,365 cards were seen.”
She added that, the police “arrested one Aputu (46) of Oji Aputu Compound, Onyobulu Inland Market Road, Oghara and recovered one of the stolen INEC registers from him.
Kalu, who noted that the stolen PVCs have since been returned to INEC, maintained that investigation was ongoing while efforts were being made to ensure that all those involved in the crime were arrested.
