A lawyer has described as extraneous the request by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, 111, to appeal an order of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, asking the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to investigate alleged criminal activities against him.
Recall that the court had, on December 15, 2014, in suit marked FHC/IB/CS/54/2014, granted an order of Mandamus, compelling the IGP to investigate alleged criminal activities leveled against the Alaafin.
The request was carried in a petition to Police IG’s office, which was signed by Jacob O. Oluokun and Sulaiman Ajiboye Ishola and dated March 18, 2014.
Following the court order, Oba Adeyemi, had prayed the court to allow him appeal the ruling as an ‘interested party’, though he was not a party to the suit at the court of first instance.
But the court has been urged to reject the prayers of the Alaafin by counsel to the applicant who insisted it was extraneous.
