Police parade over 80 suspected criminals in Cross River [PHOTOS]

The Police Command in Cross River State has paraded over eighty suspected criminals in the state who were arrested with various arms at different locations in the state.

The breakdown of the alleged criminals was: 37 for armed robbery, 20 cultism, eight unlawful possession of weeds, five murder, three defilement, two child trafficking, one each for stealing, rape, assault, conspiracy, kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms, cash of N92, 000, two vehicles and eleven fire arms.

Parading the suspects on Tuesday in Calabar, the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Mohammed Inuwa Hafiz said, “The command is desirous to contend with all criminal elements as we approach the ember months to bring crimes/criminalities to the barest minimum which Cross River State is been noted for.”

He gave the names of the suspected cultists belonging to Vikings and Klans arrested in Ogoja by SARS to include: Otu Daniel, Ogar John Ogbecha, Gabrile Adogar, Paul Odey Inaku, Oko John, Ogar Felix, Ekawe Joseph, Agowike Nwabeze, Abel Oko, Odey Clement and Odey Pius Omagu.

Suspected armed robbery arrested from different locations in the state include Emma Mbia, Ekonel, Bassey Mbongo, Ita Bassey Ita, Abraham Sampson Okon, Ubong Uwem Sampson, Lampard Ade Philip, Ogar David, Edward Uge.

Others were: Godswill Otu, Abraham Etim, Okon Okoi, Edet Asuquo Ikong, Agor Inah, Ogbudu, Emmanuel Agabi, Mary Adop,Okon Effiong, Awat Ayi, Solomon Essien, Edisua Ita, Paul Samuel Ele Ekpenyong Efa, Mbiet Obong Etim, Wisdom Effiong Etim, Harry Ovai Amos, Amos Emmanuel, Okosi Godfrey, Chukwuemeka Onyeabo, Ele Samuel and the others.

Other suspected armed robbers were: Edem Okon Edet, Effiom Bassey, Eyo Effiong Bassey, Gideon Friday Okon, Emmanuel Nfon, Daniel Monday, Etta Ntui Manyo, Emeh Precious Ifeanyi, Udofia James, Emmanuel Isha, Adie Augustine, Peter Ekwe

Also arrested, according to the police commissioner, were: suspected cultists which included: Bassey Felix, Emem Essien, Nsa Okokon, Shedrak, Samuel Etim, Etim Ene and one rapist Emmanuel Bassey as well as three suspects who attempted murder: Joseph Obi, Charles Obi and Raymond Obi.

CP Hafiz however said, “Security they say is everybody business and so glaring that our communities today are faced with diverse security challenges, ranging from cultism, communal clashes, armed robbery, stealing, cyber crimes etc.

“It is on this premise, the campaign/call for community policing, formation of neighborhood watch, genuine vigilante groups, effective collaboration with civil society organizations and good spirited individual to support the police is being encouraged by the Police authority at all levels,” he stated.
