Police parade 58 suspected criminals in Cross River

The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, CP Mohammed Inuwa Hafiz has paraded 58 suspected criminals in the state.

Parading the suspects on Friday, the commissioner disclosed that 24 of the suspects were armed robbers, 12 suspected thieves, five alleged rapists, six cultists, eight kidnappers, with three others arrested for being in possession of firearms.

Among the suspected criminals paraded was an alleged killer of Department of State Services, DSS, personnel.

Parading the suspects at the state police headquarters at diamond hill in Calabar, Inuwa said the command is determined more than ever to go all out in smoking out criminals, not minding their antics, evil skills and locations.

Giving some details about the suspected killer of the secret service personnel, the commissioner said ” on 11th October 2018 at about 2015 hrs, one Emmanuel Michael Abua ‘m’ 58 years (aka kpon kpon) was shooting randomly with a locally made gun close to the Obanliku Division of the force.

“In the process of being disarmed, the suspect stabbed one Mike Orusede – DSS personnel at his rib area with a sharp object and the victim was rushed to Sacred heart hospital Obudu where he was confirmed dead.”

In addition to this, the police commissioner said 24 armed robbery suspects, 12 thieves, one rapist, five cultists, eight kidnappers as well as three persons who possess firearms illegally are in their net.

He maintained that the war against crimes and criminality remains a continuous exercise and requires the collaborative efforts of all, hence security is everybody’s business.

The CP charged members of the public to continue partnering with the police in intelligence gathering and sharing of information to help rid the state of criminal elements.
