Police parade 30 kidnappers, robbery suspects in Kogi

The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday paraded 30 armed robbers, kidnappers, social miscreants, cattle rustlers, cultism and hoodlums who have been terrorising the people of Kogi State and its environs.

Parading the suspects in Lokoja, the Force Public Relation Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood said the incessant criminal activities of the hoodlums along Auchi-Okene, Lokoja-Ajaokuta- Anyigba, Kabba-Oshokoshoko-Obajana highways moved the inspector General of Police IGP Ibrahim Idris to direct the commissioner of Kogi State Police Command to quickly address the situation.

CSP Moshood added that effort of the Commissioner and his team through vigour, dedication, utmost professionalism and passion led to the arrest of the 30 criminals and the recoveries of several weapons.

Among those arrested and paraded for kidnapping are UmarbIsiaka alias Baddi age 25 years, Abdulkadir Abubakar alias Nagari aged 32 years, Sanusi Saleh aged 22 years and Abubakar Hassan alias Kadel aged 34 years.

While parading the suspects, the Force Public Relation Officer said on the 23rd of October, 2017, Dangote Company Security Unit at Obajana tender a complaint that some unknown gunmen invaded the Dangote Construction Company site along Oshokoshoko road and shot two Police Officers to death, while their Principal an expatriate Mr Jose Machada was kidnapped and later shot to death after five days in captivity.

He added that the Operatives attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad Kogi Command led by DSP Babagana Bukar in synergy with the DSS promptly swung into action and arrested the four suspects.

The items recovered from the suspects according to Moshood are 3 AK47 rifles, one single barrel gun and one cutlass.

He added that they have confessed to the crime , assuring that others suspects that were at large will be arrested soon.

Also paraded are Shede Zekere, 25, Ademu Garba aged 23, who were arrested for kidnapping and cattle rustling.

The Force PPRO explained that the duo were arrested at Kano road, Idah while terrorising innocent residents of the area.

He noted that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to have participated in the killing of Haruna Baso, a resident of Achoze and carted away the deceased cattle.

Items also recovered from the suspects are one cut to size locally made revolver gun, three AK 47 ammunitions and one cutlass.

Those also paraded for armed robbery are Goma Hamza aged 26, Isah Usman Abarba aged 20 years, Abdulkareem Idi aged 30 years, Abdulwahab iIdi aged 22 years and Umoru Ademu aged 21 years.

According to him the suspects were arrested along Okene-Auchi road in one of their hideouts at Osuwen in Okene, adding that they also confessed to have committed series of kidnapping along the road.

Others were also paraded for possession of fire arm, unlawful society, mischief and theft as well as vandalization of pipeline.
