The Bauchi state Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 14 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, forgers as well as police impersonators.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Bauchi.
He stated that the arrest followed credible intelligence report by the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, F-SARS, in the command.
“The suspects were arrested in various spots within the state by F-SARS in line with the directive of the Police Commissioner, Sanusi Lemu in his renewed commitment to get rid of crimes in Bauchi state,” Abubakar said.
The PPRO added that handsets including cash were recovered from the suspects, disclosing that dangerous items found in the possession of the suspects are: pump action gun, cutlasses, AK 47 rifle, laptops, police identity card.
He revealed that one Abdullahi Garba was also arrested for conspiring to kill one Umar Shuaibu and cart away his motorcycle valued at N240,000 at Zoro village in Darazo LGA of the state.
The suspects, according to Abubakar, have since confessed to the various crimes and are currently assisting the police with investigations.
He however cautioned mischief-makers against any act detrimental to the peace and development of the state.
