The intervention of officers attached to the Ogun State Police Command on Sunday saved two suspected kidnappers who were accused of kidnapping a fish farmer from been lynched in Odoyanta, Ijebu Ode area of the State.
The alleged kidnappers at about 7pm attacked the fish farmer identified as Kowope while on his farm.
It was gathered that the suspects who wielded cutlasses and charms, claimed to be police officers from the Igbeba Police Division.
Fight was said to have broken out when Kowope, 30, demanded to see the officers ID cards. The alleged kidnappers overpowered the victim and tied his legs with a chain.
It was learnt that a resident alerted police officers from Igbeba division following the exchange of words coming from the bush.
The timely intervention of the police saved both men from been mobbed by angry residents.
Confirming the development, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the men have been arrested and the case is been investigated .
“The police arrested one woman and two men in the area. We are finding out whether they are kidnappers or ritual killers.
“The police have a case against them and investigations are ongoing on the matter,” he said.
