A two man gang who specialises in kidnapping and selling children has been apprehended by the Imo State Police Command.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Austin Evbakhavbokum while parading the suspects yesterday identified them as Kelechi Nwogu, 22, and 22-year-old Ebuka Ibe.
Luck ran out on both men when they were rounded up after a distress call to the police following the abduction of two siblings, 4-year-old Chukwuma Ezeribe and Chigozie Ezeribe, 3, while they were returning from school at Amazu Amato in the Orsu Local Government Area.
According to the State Police Commissioner, the suspects were arrested while on their way to sell the children.
He said, “The two victims were being conveyed by the suspects to a prospective buyer before operatives pursued and arrested them.”
The police disclosed that items recovered the from the house of one of the suspects, Emeka Ibe, were one locally-made revolver pistol with one round of 99mm live ammunition, one locally-made short gun with one line cartridge, one locally-made single barrel gun and two big iron cutters.
