Police nabs three men for allegedly offering officers N1m bribe in Niger


The Niger State Police Command had paraded three persons for allegedly offering the sum of N1m as bribe to operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad.

The suspects, Abdulmumini Ala, Bala Abdullahi and Samuel Marafa, were paraded alongside N540, 000 made as part payment of the alleged bribe.

According to the police, the suspect offered the bribe so as to remove from the police records, some firearms recovered from their relatives who had been earlier apprehended by operatives of SARS for robbery allegations and possession of three AK-47 rifles.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Bala Elkana, said, “We have three persons in our custody who approached SARS and offered to give a bribe of N1 million for the police to remove from the records firearms recovered from their relatives who were earlier arrested by SARS and charged to court.”

The police spokesperson also stated that the suspects will be charged to court soon.
