Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested by men of the Ondo State Police Command.

The suspected armed robbers, who are of Bayelsa State origin, were identified as Kingsley Ngbi, 30 and Jibril Alazigha, 37.

Parading the suspects on Thursday at state headquarters of the Nigeria Police in Akure, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Femi Joseph, said they were arrested on June 6, 2019, following a report lodged by one of their victims.

According to the PPRO, the suspected robbers had trailed their victim, Yemisi Ogidan after she withdrew the sum of N975,000 from a commercial bank at Alagbaka, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

“After she (Yemisi Ogidan) withdrew a sum of Nine hundred and seventy-five thousand naira(975,000) from a commercial bank in Alagbaka Akure, they (suspected robbers) followed her in their Toyota Corolla vehicle, which they used in perpetrating their dastardly act.

“On getting to a spot around Olasco building on Oba Adesida road, they forced the woman to stop her vehicle and dispossessed her of the money.

The Police Spokesman maintained that the victim reported the crime to the police, adding that the robbers damaged the victim’s Siena car and made away with the money.

He added that officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS consequently took over the case which led to the arrest of the suspects.

Joseph said during the interrogation, they confessed to the crime, adding that they belonged to a syndicate that specialized in robbing unsuspecting customers in Akure, the state capital by trailing their targets from the bank after withdrawing substantial amounts of money.

Joseph, however, stated that under the supervision of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie, the command would intensify its onslaught against unrepentant criminals in the state.

He said items recovered from the suspects include: six masters keys and the vehicle Toyota Corolla with registration number, YEN 99 HB, which they used in perpetrating their evil act.
