Police nab two suspected kidnappers in Delta

The Police anti-kidnapping team in Abraka Police Division, Delta State on Tuesday evening arrested two dreaded kidnappers identified as Monday Ayara and Joseph Boloro for allegedly kidnapping a middle-aged businessman, Chief John Ekuku in the area last month.

CPS Hassan Jimoh, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abraka Police Division who confirmed the arrest of the two kidnappers to journalists in the area, said the police anti-kidnapping team acted on a tip-off to trace the suspects from Abraka community to Kokori, their hideouts and arrested them while two of their gang members escaped.

Jimoh said: “the police anti-kidnapping team who acted on a tip-off moved into Kokori town after the kidnappers had released their victim in their hideouts where they arrested them, unfortunately, two of their gang members escaped,” disclosing that the two suspects upon interrogation confessed to the crime of terrorizing Abraka community including neighbouring ones over the years.

CSP Hassan Jimoh further disclosed the suspects also confessed to have been responsible for the kidnapping of six persons last month and confessed to collecting N1, 200, 000 from the families of the victims, adding: “recently, a woman that sells cement, her husband was kidnapped, and N4, 000, 000 was collected from her, the suspects have taken us to the house the kidnappers kept the man.”
