Police nab two notorious armed robbers in Enugu

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects at a hotel located around New Haven axis of the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Danmallam Mohammed revealed that the suspects were nabbed on October 24, following intelligence information received by the police.

The statement read: “It was gathered that suspects had allegedly operated in the late night of 23/10/17 at Abakpa Nike axis of the state where they robbed and ransacked their victims of some valuable items which include flat screen television sets and some amount of money, as well as handsets and, thereafter, escaped to avoid being nabbed just as security operatives were already alerted through the Command’s distress call numbers.

“It was further gathered that the hoodlums left Abakpa and headed to a hotel at New Haven from where they were taking refuge before the operatives acting on intelligence information swooped on them and arrested them.

“The suspects, who gave their names as one Chika Ezenwa and Emmanuel Sunday, are helping the operatives in their investigations in relation to their nefarious activities within Abakpa and its environs.”

The Police boss commended the efforts of the operatives to arrest the suspects.

He also assured residents that the Command in partnership with the sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders would stop at nothing at ensuring their safety.

Mohammed urged them to always cooperate with the security agencies and reminded them to promptly use the Command’s distress lines and social media platforms to engage the police.
