Police nab Okada thieves in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intercepted a three-man gang which allegedly robbed a man of his motorcycle at gunpoint in Mpape, a satellite community.

The suspects were apprehended at about 2am on Thursday at Zuma Village by a police patrol team from the Bwari Police Division following a tip-off.

FCT police spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, said the suspects – Ibrahim Abubakar, 22; Suleiman Idris, 25; and Biraje Baupe, 24 – confessed to the crime.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to have stolen the motorcycle from a motorcyclist at gunpoint in Mpape,” Manzah said in a statement.

“The exhibits recovered from the suspects include one locally-made revolver pistol, three live cartridges, one Bajaj motorcycle, Tramadol tablets and some assorted charms”.

It said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the command Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the command said it had commenced moves to identify the owner of the recovered motorcycle in order to hand it over to him.
