Police nab four suspects over alleged murder of businessman in Delta

The Police Anti-crime Team in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State has arrested four suspects over the alleged murder of one Collins Ovie, a businessman in Egini community last Wednesday.

The victim was said to have been murdered last Wednesday in Egini community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state by unknown gunmen while he was on his way home from a meeting towards evening.

But the Police Commissioner in the state, Mustafa Muhammed, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to DAILY POST on Friday in Asaba, said: “the police swung into action, and in the course of their investigation, arrested four persons, Jacob Ekpere, Felix Otoboreh, Carl Ofoni, and Nelson Oghonovo for interrogation, they are currently being detained for further investigation”.

The police boss disclosed that the suspects, on interrogation, made useful statements to the police, adding that they were arrested in Kokori town based on intelligence gathering, and would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

The Police Commissioner further disclosed that a deadly car-snatching syndicate was arrested on Thursday in Warri by Police Anti-robbery Patrol Team in Warri, adding that the 36-year-old suspect, Jackson Egere, who was arrested, had been terrorizing Warri and its environs in the last one year before nemesis caught up with him.

He said that the suspect was arrested along Effurun roundabout during heated argument with his gang members who were able to escape the wrath of the police patrol team.

According to Muhammed, “the suspect was arrested by police patrol team in Effurun around the roundabout during a heated argument with his gang members. Others escaped, but he Jackson was apprehended, and on interrogation, he confessed to many crimes as he was discovered to be on the wanted list of the police.”
