A fake army officer, Felix James alongside his gang who have been terrorizing and raping girls at Amaja community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State have been arrested by officers attached to the State Police Command.
James was nabbed by detectives from Nsukka Police Command while going about in the community under the pretext of being a genuine army officer.
While reacting to his arrest, James who was fully dressed in army camouflage, said he got the uniform through his friend, adding that his effort to get enlisted into the Nigerian army after several attempts met a brick wall.
James said, “My friend Reggan Igbonekwu whose father was a retired soldier gave me the army uniform to wear to convince my parents that I had successfully joined the Nigerian Army. I came back in November 2014 with the army uniform and since then till now I have never worn the uniform again. I paid Reggan a total sum of N80, 000 for the army uniforms he supplied to me.’’
He further said that after completing his secondary school education in 2012, he tried to get enlisted into the Nigerian Army but failed, while also adding that he was selling cosmetics in Kogi State before he decided to join the army and failed.
“Everybody in the community knew that I went for the army recruitment but they did not know that I was not successful. I am a married man with one issue and my wife Ujah Rita sees me as an army officer,” he said.
