Police nab electric transformer vandal, dealer in vandalised cables in Enugu

The Police in Enugu have arrested an electric transformer vandal, Chibuike Nwosu, who also deals on vandalised electric transformer armour cables in the popularly known Kenyatta Electrical Market, Enugu. The spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Wednesday that the suspect was caught on Tuesday at 4 a.m. in Emene community, near Enugu.

Amaraizu said that the suspect, who is a father of five, was nabbed by the police in partnership with members of the community.

“Suspect admitted to the act and pointed out that he was not alone in the business as he revealed the names and addresses of his cohorts who specialised in vandalising electric transformer armour cables within Emene, Enugu, and its environs.

“The suspect further stated that he deals on electric materials and through which he knew the co-suspect identified as one Paul Ike who is at large now.

“He also maintained that he buys and places the materials for sale in his shop located at Kenyata Electrical Market, Enugu, for purchase by electrical company engineers.

“He is now regretting the act just as he blamed it on Satan,’’ he said.

The police spokesman said the suspect was already helping the police in its investigation. (NAN)
