Police move to end kidnapping, criminal activities in Ekiti, rescue victim

The Ekiti State Police Command has appealed to the members of the public to give useful information and cooperate with force to rid the state of kidnappers.

However, a kidnapped victim, Oladele Rufus, who was abducted on Saturday along Aramoko- Erio-Efon road has been freed.

But a kidnapped twin, Kehinde Oseni, popularly known Olowoafara, who was abducted along the same route, is yet to be released.

The route up to Iwaraja, Osun boundary, has become a hideout for criminals in the recent time, where many have been kidnapped, robbed or killed by gunmen.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Asuquo Amba, who spoke in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday to douse the mounting tension, assured that those who were abducted in recent time will be released.

Amba, in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Caleb Ikechukwu, stated that the police were working assiduously to secure the release of the victim that is still being held hostage by the attackers.

He added that no effort will be spared to curb the activities of kidnappers in the state.

“We wish to use this medium to inform the good people of Ekiti State that the Command is working assiduously towards securing the release of one of the two kidnapped victims, Oladele Rufus.

“However, through the intensive effort of the operatives, Oladele was released by the kidnappers.

“The Command has emplaced watertight security at all strategic areas in order to curb, arrest criminals and kidnappers within the State.

“All the Divisional Police Officers have been warned to beef up adequate security within their areas of responsibilities.”

Amba implored the members of the Public to cooperate with the Police, by being security conscious, vigilant and report any untoward incident to the police for action.
