Police launch manhunt for Nigerian man who stabbed woman in India

A Nigerian man, simply identified as Osas and resident in Kukkenahalli, India, has been declared wanted by the Hennur police in India after he allegedly attacked a 30-year-old Ugandan national, Shakira Nsonko, on February 10, in Bengalulu.

According to Bangalore Mirror, Osas was said to have attacked Nsonko with a knife at an unnamed African eatery when she refused to pay for his drink.

The lady had laid a complaint at the Hennur police station. In her complaint, she stated that she was at the mess with a friend, Gifletin, when Osas asked her to buy him drinks.

When she refused, he abused and slapped her.

To escape his continued assault, she said she locked herself up in a room and called a friend, Tony.

That, however, did not stop Osas, who according to her, waited and eventually slashed her with a knife when she came out, thinking he had gone.

Following her complaint, the Hennur police launched a manhunt on Osas, who is now on the run.

The police reportedly said they have taken up the case against Osas, under Section 323: Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 324: Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon, noting that passports and other documents of the duo are being verified by the police.

Meanwhile, DCP Satish Kumar told Bangalore Mirror that Nsonko initially claimed she was involved in an accident in which she got hurt.

Kumar disclosed that it was only after doctors at MS Ramaiah Hospital informed the police that the wound could be the result of stabbing, that the victim revealed she was stabbed.

Consul of Rwanda, Mohan Suresh, who reportedly visited Nsonko, said the two (Osas aond Nsonko) actually knew each other and that she was an illegal immigrant from Uganda.
