The police anti-robbery squad attached to Oleh police division in Delta state have killed three robbery suspects in a gun battle in the area in the early hours of Thursday.

DSP Andrew Aniamaka, police spokesman in the state, who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, said, “the suspects were killed in their hideout on intelligence gathering, the police swooped on suspects while they were smoking, and unknown to them, but they (the robbers) engaged the police in gun battle, and the process, the police gained the upper hand. The police also recovered from the suspects locally-made guns, prepared charms, and a cash of N200,000. The suspects have been disposed off”.

It was gathered that the suspects, among other notorious armed gangs, have been responsible for several cases of robberies and kidnapping, particularly the kidnap of a 14-year-old boy who was on his way home in company of others, and his coach at the entrance of Isoko center school ( ICS), after training for the fourth football tournament in the area.

But, his brother, Askia Jacob told DAILY POST that that incident occurred on Tuesday in Oleh town, headquarters of Isoko south, adding that a search party which included the police rescued the boy unhurt.
