Police kill suspected armed robber in Delta community as others escape

Officers and men of the Sapele Police Divisional Headquarters in collaboration with local vigilantes have gunned down a suspected armed robber at Fedison Street of Ubini Drive, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, DAILY POST can report.

The incident occurred at about 3am Sunday morning.

The incident followed a complaint/distressed call by a Victim, Justin Chukwudi Uche.

The Police and the Vigilante promptly swung into action but unfortunately, before their arrival at the scene of incident, the suspected armed robber had already injured the victim.

A member of the Vigilante, Syvelster David who grabbed one of the armed robbers was also stabbed in the neck.

The criminal gang also engaged the police and vigilante in a gun duel.

In the process, a suspected armed robber was shot while the others who could not withstand the Superior fire power of the Police jumped into a swamp and escaped.

It was learnt that the deceased suspected armed robber died on the way to the hospital as he was being rushed by the Police.

DAILY POST gathered that the Police recovered from the suspected armed robber, a double barreled short gun, three cartridges and one expended cartridge.

Contacted, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka confirmed the report in a phone chat with Our correspondent.

DSP Aniamaka said the wounded victim and the Vigilante who were stabbed by one of the suspects are currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Sapele.

While noting that the area is calm and peaceful, DSP Aniamaka said residents should go about their duties and businesses without fear, stressing that the Police will continue to ensure the security of lives and property of the citizens.
