The Police authorities in Delta state have confirmed the killing of a robbery suspect and the arrest of two others after a gun battle with armed hoodlums who attacked residents of Uloho Avenue, in Ughelli town, near Warri.
State Police spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu, said in a statement, Wednesday, in Asaba that the robbers met their doom, after the police responded swiftly and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
“On December 2, 2015 at about 7.20pm, the DPO ‘A’ Division Ughelli received information about a robbery operation at Robert Allory Street, Uloho Avenue Ughelli.
“Based on the information, a patrol team swiftly mobilized to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and in the process, one of the bandits was gunned down.
“Also, two other members of the gang, one Isaac Aghofne, and Innocent Ejeba were arrested.
Kalu listed items recovered from the robbers to include, two double barrel cut-to-size guns, one locally-made pistol, four expended live cartridges and some handsets.
She said the arrested suspects were currently undergoing interrogation, adding that investigation into the incident has commenced.
