Kano State Police Command has debunked speculations that the state government has ordered closure of schools for fear of attack.
The command, in a terse statement by its spokesman on Thursday, Magaji Majiya, said the information was untrue and was carried by mischief makers.
It called on parents, stakeholders and the general public to disregard the rumour, adding that the Command is working tirelessly to provide maximum security in all the schools and the state in general.
Similarly, Commissioner for Information, Youths and Culture, Muhammad Garba described the rumours as baseless and unfounded.
A statement he signed advised the public especially parents, guardians and care givers, “to remain calm and allow their wards to remain in school until the completion of examination”.
It assured that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure the protection of lives and property of citizens including schools in the state.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board has suspended its earlier directive for the closure of all secondary schools.
A statement by its Public Relations Officer, Yushau Hamza, said all principals, principal directors, zonal education directors and all staff of public secondary schools should resume immediately.
