The Police in Delta State on Thursday in Asaba paraded 15 suspects, who allegedly took part in various crimes, ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping and cultism.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Alkali Usman, who paraded the suspects, said that their arrest was made possible with the cooperation of the public.

He said: “the Delta police command has continued to deliver on its mandate of protecting life and property of the citizens.

“We have been achieving results in the fight against crime due to the cooperation of the public.

“The command recorded major break throughs in crime fighting.

“I solicit the continued support and cooperation of the public to make the state a safe place for all.’’

The commissioner said that some of the suspects paraded allegedly abducted and killed one Prince Onovirighose after collecting N1 million ransom from his family.

“The DPO Oghara Division received information on Feb. 19 that the suspects who killed Onvirighose were sighted in Oghara community.

“Consequently, the DPO mobilised detectives, who swung into action and arrested one Oyibo Shell, Efe Sosolobia and Ambrose Omoriyi, all males,” he said.

Usman said that when they were interrogated, the three suspects, who confessed to the crime, mentioned two other members of their gang, who are at large.

The police boss said that among the criminals paraded were four suspected cultists, among them, Mamus Uduophori a 20 year-old student of Delta Polytechnic, Ozoro.

According to the commissioner, Uduophori confessed that they belonged to Vikings secret cult.

He said that the suspects were arrested after a police patrol team intercepted an unregistered tricycle conveying them to Otefe Oghara community.

“When they were interrogated, they confessed being members of Vikings confraternity.

“They subsequently took the police to their hideout in Ughelli, where a locally-made cut-to-size pistol and charms were recovered,” Usman said.
