Police give update on man who strangled his four children in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command says it is investigating a case of homicide in the case of Patrick Archibong, the man who allegedly strangled his four children and killed himself in Alesa, Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

The decision of the Police may not be unconnected to the eyewitness’ accounts of some of Late Patrick’s neighbors.

Some of those who spoke with newsmen said the late man’s wife made comments about the paternity of the four children.

But, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, said it was possible that the killing of the four children and the suicide may have been stage-managed.

DSP Omoni disclosed that a team of homicide personnel have been delegated to investigate the incident.

He added that, “There were pieces of bread and a liquid that looks like tea beside the murdered children.

“We are looking at the possibility that the bread may be poisonous. We have taken it for further investigation.

“We are also following other pointers that I may not be able to reveal to you now so that it does not jeopardize our investigation. But I can assure you we leaving no stone unturned in this matter.

35-year old Patrick Archibong from Ogoja in Cross Rivers State was reported to have strangled his four children between ages 6-1, set his room ablaze and committed suicide in Alede-Alexander, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers state for an unknown reason.
