The Lagos State Police Command on Monday said it had foiled attempted armed robbery on two banks in Ikorodu Local Government Area of the state. The command’s spokesman, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, who confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos could not say whether there was any casualty or not. NAN, however, learnt that the suspected armed robbers stormed the First Bank of Nigeria Plc., Omitoro branch and the Wema Bank Plc., in Ijede, Ikorodu, early this morning. Nwosu said the suspected armed robbers nearly succeeded but for the timely intervention of the police, who foiled the robbery operation. He said the hoodlums moved to Wema bank after a foiled attempt in First bank but were unable to gain access into the bank following the police intervention too. Nwosu said the police was yet to make any arrest, saying the case was currently being investigated. (NAN)
