The Delta State Police Command has arrested and dismissed one Sgt. Habila Samaila ‘m’ 36 years of age for professional misconduct and alleged murder of a 32-year-old man, Ejovwokoghene Igueride ‘m’ from Emede community, Isoko South LGA of Delta State, DAILY POST reports.
In a statement signed by DSP Andrew Aniamaka and made available to DAILY POST, the Delta State Police Command hinted that the Police plans to arraign the dismissed police officer in court soon.
The Delta State Police Command said the dismissal of the officer was in line with its avowed commitment to serve with integrity and be guided by the best democratic principles and practice at all times, no matter whose ox is gored.
The Delta State Police Command claimed that the mobile policeman allegedly shot the deceased dead at Emede community, where he was rushed to the General Hospital, Olomoro and was confirmed dead on August 19, at about 1910hrs.
The Police Command’s investigation so far revealed that the shooting was carried out by former Sgt. Habila Samaila of 33 PMF Ado-Ekiti, who was on an escort to the community with the Director of Johnnesco (Nig.) Enterprises Ltd.
The Delta State Police Command also expressed its heart-felt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, stressing that,” it shares in their pains over the unfortunate loss of their loved one due to the careless handling of weapon by the dismissed sergeant.”
