Sixteen Nsukka residents are on the wanted list of the Enugu State Police Command following the killing of a politician, Ozioko Christopher Ejike Onah at Agbani- Nguru, in Nsukka Local Government Area of the state.
A reliable police source who spoke to DailyPost on the condition of anonymity said that the sixteen persons have serious links to the brutal murder of the politician. Ejike, popularly known as “Papa Nsukka” was killed at his residence by unknown young men wielding cutlasses and axes. He died few hours later in a hospital as a result of matchet wounds he received from the group.
The Agbani Nguru community has also paid a visit to Nsukka Divisional Police Officer, DPO, James Nwokolo, during which they assured him that they were solidity behind the police in their efforts to unveil the circumstance surrounding the murder.
However, contrary to popular view that Papa Nsukka was murdered over a lingering land tussle, a community leader in the area, Chief Ikechukwu Obayi said the murder had no possible link with the land dispute.
He explained that the Agbani Nguru community had concluded plans to set up a committee to assist the police in their investigations to track down the killers. He stressed that they were law abiding citizens who do not harbour criminals of any kind.
