Police charge two over alleged robbery of jewelry worth N9m


Two men suspected to have stolen some jewelries worth 9.5 million naira on Tuesday have being arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Lagos.

The two suspects; Williams, 23 and Jeremiah, 28 have being arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, intent to commit felony and stealing.

According to the prosecutor, who was represented in Court by Sergeant Samson Oyelowo of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti Lagos, the crime was committed last year- December 20 in Kufesi Street, Yaba Lagos.

The prosecutor disclosed that the suspect broke into the house of one Dokun Omisore and made away with jewelries worth over nine million naira.

He affirmed that, “The accused carted away gold chains, bangles, rings and a gold watch belonging to the complainant’s spouse.”

The offences according to the prosecutor, contravene Sections 285 (1), (7), 305 (a), (b), 306 (I), (2) and 409 of the 2011 Criminal Law of Lagos State.

However, both suspects, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mr Olatunbosun Abolarinwa, the Chief Magistrate granted both suspects bail with the sum of two million naira and two sureties in like sum.

Chief Magistrate, Mr Olatunbosun Abolarinwa adjourned the case to March 12.
