The police in Zamfara State have banned the use of all forms of speed breakers or limiting materials on public roads, especially on the highways.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Adejo Gabriel, announced this when he addressed journalists in his office in Gusau on Tuesday.

Many communities erect speed breakers by using heavy firewood, logs, big stones, used tyres and other waste products to block the roads passing through their areas and villages.

Many motorists, especially trailer drivers found it very difficult to meander between such speed breakers.

This situation, he said, usually led to accidents and traffic jams that lasted for hours before they were cleared for people to pass to their next destinations.

The police, therefore, warned that anyone caught using anything on the road in order to divert motorists would face the full wrath of the law.
